On July the 26th 2007 the Birmingham Jefferson County Transit Authority opened the first public (CNG) Compressed Natural Gas refueling station in the city of Birmingham Al. The benefits of operating a truck, car or bus on (CNG) are:
  1. CNG Cost. $1.36 per gallon compares to the price of gasoline at $2.85 per gallon. For example, if you purchase 25 gallons of gasoline per week at $2.85 per gallon for a whole year you would spend $3,420.00 dollars. If you purchased the same amount of CNG for a year you would spend only $1,632.00 dollars, which is a savings of $1,788.00 dollars yearly. Over a 5 year span you would save $8,940.00 dollars WOW! What could you buy for $8,940.00 dollars?

  2. Cleaner Emission. Use of CNG creates up to 85% cleaner emissions from the tail pipe which promotes Cleaner Air. Do Your Share for Cleaner Air!

  3. Reduced Carbon Deposits. Engines operating on gasoline causes engine oil to turn black and loose its lubrication ability. This means you perform 3,000 mile oil changes. Each oil change cost on the average is $39.00 per service. With CNG, oil changes are performed at 15,000 miles

  4. Oil Life Extended. Driving 15,000 miles before changing oil while using CNG, means that you will drive 5 times further between oil changes; this creates saving around $156.00 dollars every 15000 miles and also reduces the amount of waste oil that we must dispose of or recycle.
